A Message From Our New President

Dear Cardigan Club Members,

I am very excited to be the new president of the Chesapeake Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club. Shirley Hobbs introduced me to the breed in 2006 with the admonition, “They are like potato chips, you can’t have just one.” She was right as I am now the proud owner of four. Although I have some experience in conformation, my primary focus has been performance. Jazz, Tori, and Banjo have all been shown in Rally and Obedience. Jazz also has titles in Agility and Lure Coursing. The newest member of the pack, Lizzie, will be joining them on the road this year.

The Cardigan is a versatile dog. We have members who seek to improve the breed by exhibiting them in conformation events and raising fine puppies. Others put their dogs to work and join them in performance events. Still others treasure them as pets and companions. I see the club as fulfilling the needs of all these groups.

I hope that everyone will feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. This is your club. If you are a new member or a new Cardigan owner we can create a mentoring partnership to assist you. Please come to as many activities as you can so that we can share our affection for this wonderful breed.

Sincerely,
Jan Lehman
CCWCC President
